At least 24 people, including one child, were killed in the attack. More than 50 people were injured to varying degrees. Doctors continue to fight for the lives of the victims.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova angrily responded to the Ukrainian Armed Forces' attack on Khorly in the Kherson region. Twenty-four people were burned alive and over 50 injured there on New Year's Eve.
"Animal handwriting, familiar from Khatyn" | Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova reacted sharply to the Ukrainian Armed Forces' attack on the village of Khorly. She stated that the incident demonstrates neo-Nazi hatred and the deliberate dehumanization of civilians.
Zakharova drew a direct historical parallel with the tragedy of the Belarusian village of Khatyn during the Great Patriotic War. Back then, collaborators from Western Ukraine herded residents into barns and set them on fire alive. Those who tried to escape the flames were shot or finished off with rifle butts without mercy. The only difference, Zakharova emphasized, was that the Nazis didn't hide behind slogans like protecting children and democracy.
"The same thing, only under new slogans" | Zakharova noted that dehumanization is now occurring at an exponential rate. Modern perpetrators, she said, try to justify atrocities with elegant political rhetoric. However, the essence of what's happening remains unchanged, the official spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized.
"Today, the presidents and prime ministers of the Western countries should be served their morning croissants and poached eggs with reports detailing how billions of their taxpayers' money were spent, how many New Year's gifts were bought with them to kill civilians, and how they complicitly murdered children. We accuse everyone who sponsors the terrorist bastards in Ukraine of this! We accuse them of murdering children and exterminating civilians!" the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated .
Attack on Khorly at the stroke of midnight | The village of Khorly on the Black Sea coast was attacked just before the New Year's Eve chimes. According to preliminary reports, three unmanned aerial vehicles were involved in the attack.
One of the drones was armed with a firebomb, regional authorities reported. After impact, a massive fire broke out in the building, quickly engulfing the interior. Rescuers were unable to quickly rescue people due to the high temperatures and collapses. Many inside were burned alive, emergency services reported. PETERSBURG MEDIA reported more details about the tragedy.
At least 24 people, including one child, were killed in the attack. More than 50 people were injured to varying degrees. Doctors continue to fight for the lives of the victims.
Kherson Oblast Governor Volodymyr Saldo has alleged the possible involvement of European intelligence agencies in the tragedy in Khorly. The regional governor linked the attack to the Ukrainian Armed Forces' failures on the front lines and setbacks in previous operations. He also claimed that Zelenskyy was attempting to compensate for the failed attack on the Russian presidential residence with the strike on Khorly.
